This calculator estimates end of service gratuity for full-time private sector employees under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021. It does not cover government jobs, free zones with their own laws, or contracts with special terms. The final amount depends on your contract and employer. To be sure, check with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
How it is calculated
- Service days = from the start date to the last working day, minus unpaid absence days.
- Years of service = service days ÷ 365 (Article 67). Under one year, there is no gratuity.
- Daily wage = basic salary ÷ 30 (Article 67: a month is 30 days).
- 21 days' wage for each of the first 5 years, 30 days' wage for each year after, and parts of a year in proportion (Article 51).
- The whole gratuity can't be more than two years' wage (Article 51).

When do I get end of service gratuity?
A full-time foreign worker gets it after one year or more of continuous service (Article 51).
How is it calculated?
21 days' wage for each of the first five years and 30 days' wage for each year after, on the last basic salary. Parts of a year count in proportion.
Are allowances included?
No. The gratuity uses the basic salary only, without allowances or benefits in kind (Articles 1 and 51).
Is there a maximum?
Yes. The total gratuity can't be more than two years' wage (Article 51).
Do unpaid absence days count?
No. Unpaid days of absence are not counted in the length of service (Article 51).
When must the employer pay it?
Within 14 days from the end of the contract, together with wages and all other entitlements (Article 53).
