How it is calculated

  1. 50/30/20: half the salary for needs (housing, loans, bills, groceries), 30% for wants, and 20% for savings.
  2. 60/20/20: for higher rent or loans: 60% needs, 20% wants, 20% savings.
  3. “My own”: move the percentages yourself; they always add up to 100%.
  4. Each amount is rounded to the nearest dirham. It's all worked out on your device, and we never keep your salary.

Questions people ask

What is the 50/30/20 rule?

A simple way to split a salary: 50% for needs, 30% for wants, and 20% for savings and paying off debt.

Does it work in the UAE?

As a start, yes. Rent is high here, so many people do better with 60/20/20. What matters most is planning for rent cheques, school fees and Ramadan, which is what Taqseema does.

How much of my salary should I save?

20% is common. If that's hard, start with 5% or 10% and raise it slowly. Save first, on payday, not from what's left.

Do you keep my salary?

No. It's calculated in your browser; your salary and numbers never reach us.
